how hard would it be to wrap the map so it is more realistic instead of fighting on a map created by the Flat Earth Society?

It would require a substantial restructuring and rewriting of many parts of the game. It was designed from the beginning as a flat world, so wrapping was just never accounted for at all.

So, it's just something I'll have to keep in mind for a 2.0 version.

I agree that, like civilization, it would be cool to have cylindrical or toroidal maps in addition to flat. I also realize quite how much effort would be required to implement this though. Good luck if you try, but I do think it would improve the game by removing some of the positional advantage/disadvantage of corners (easier to defend, harder to expand from) and centers (harder to defend, easier to expand from).
